Invited by the Carnegie Museum of Art to guest curate their monthly late-night program, I was inspired to re-mix, re-frame, and re-circulate both people and art. With the entire museum at our disposal, Remix took the form of a late night marathon and gallery scavenger hunt in 3 parts featuring film, live music, and interactive art.
Film - "Ways of Something" Ep. 1-4 screening, artist talk with Lorna Mills & Angela Washko
This epic remake of John Berger’s famous documentary Ways of Seeing (1972) is comprised of 1-minute videos created by 125 emerging and key figures in the Net.Art movement. Utilizing a mashup of original animated GIFs, film remix, 3D animation, and web-based performances juxtaposed with Berger's original narrative, WoS describes how we look at art after the Internet. Toronto-based director and new media artist Lorna Mills joined us for a Q&A with Ep. 2 artist and media theorist Angela Washko. Ways of Something went on to be collected by the Whitney Museum of American Art in 2016.

Lorna Mills is a Canadian Net.art and new media artist who is known for her digital animations, videos, and GIFs. She has exhibited in OCAD Toronto, Moving Image Art Fair NYC, Vivid Projects UK, Transfer Gallery NYC, New Forms Festival Vancouver, Gene Siskel Film Center Chicago, and featured on Art F City, Creators Project, Canadian Art, ArtNet and more. “Ways of Something” Ep 1 & 2 were commissioned by the One Minutes, Amsterdam.
Art - #ArtFace Photobooth
#ArtFace sprung from a desire to update & remix paintings by becoming them, and took inspiration from artist Kyle McDonald's ofxFaceTracker. I conceptualized and commissioned the project with artists Claire Hentschker and Zach Rispoli. Guests were prompted to scour the galleries for #ArtFace tags and choose a background and face from a selection of works. At the booth, they were transported into their painting to become the face of art. 100+ ArtFacers walked away with a print of their new painting for their own budding gallery.
